More parking stalls being added in downtown Lethbridge

The City of Lethbridge says drivers will soon have more places to park along 6 Street South.

Starting on Tuesday, April 29, there will be a series of partial and full road closures between 4 and 5 Avenue South to allow for the addition of new on-street parking stalls.

“Crews will first remove the concrete pad, that had previously been used for transit bus passengers, on the east side of 6 Street just south of 4 Avenue. They will then re-pave the area for up to eight new parking stalls,” says the City of Lethbridge.

The following impacts will be made during construction:

  • April 29 to May 2: Partial closure northbound, with through traffic still allowed
  • May 2: Brief full closure of the road, then back to partial closure
  • May 2 to May 5: partial closure northbound, with through traffic still allowed
  • May 5: Full closure on 6 Street between 5 Avenue and 4 Avenue while paving is underway, then back to partial closure
  • May 6: Road fully re-open

Local access will be allowed while work is ongoing. Businesses in the impacted areas have been notified.

Residents are asked to maintain a safe distance from all excavated areas and machinery, and drivers should slow down and pay attention to signage.

Road closures and repairs are available on the City’s WebMap for further information.
