Hockey players’ sexual assault trial shown security, phone videos

Apr 30, 2025 | 10:16 AM

LONDON — The sexual assault trial of five former members of Canada’s world junior hockey team watched security footage today from a bar and the hotel where the players were staying the night of the alleged incident.

Court has also seen cellphone videos taken by one of the accused players and another member of the team over the course of the night.

Michael McLeod, Carter Hart, Alex Formenton, Dillon Dube and Callan Foote have all pleaded not guilty to sexual assault.

McLeod has also pleaded not guilty to an additional charge of being a party to the offence of sexual assault.

The charges stem from an encounter that took place at a London, Ont., hotel room in June 2018, at a time when many members of the team were in town for a gala.

The complainant, who was 20 at the time, cannot be identified under a standard publication ban.
