Rachael Thomas ‘honoured’, projected to serve fourth term as Lethbridge MP

Apr 30, 2025 | 9:50 AM

Lethbridge’s federal Conservative candidate is set to enter her fourth term in office.

Rachael Thomas won an estimated 60.8 per cent of the votes in Monday’s federal election.

“I’m really excited for the opportunity to once again represent the constituents of Lethbridge. I feel honoured, and yeah, I’m just full of joy,” says Thomas. “I really enjoy the opportunity I have had over the last three terms, and to be given the opportunity for a fourth – it’s just an incredible honour.”

She says she is proud of the campaign she and the Conservative Party of Canada ran – one she describes as being about hope, prosperity, safe communities and leadership.

Thomas tells LNN that her party wants to ensure that the hard work of Canadians can pay off.

“It’s those things that I’ll continue to fight for because I know that those things matter to people in Lethbridge. They want me to contend for affordability, they want me to contend for safe streets, they want me to contend for a strong Canada,” says Thomas.

She continues, “It’s my pleasure to go back to Ottawa and to make sure that I’m standing up for them and being a voice on their behalf.”

Thomas commended the work of Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre throughout the campaign, saying that his message resonated with tens of millions of Canadians.

Poilievre, however, is projected to have lost his seat in the rural Ottawa riding of Carleton to Liberal newcomer Bruce Fanjoy.

Thomas did not say whether she would support Poilievre staying on as Conservative leader, as he has indicated he will, or whether she feels the party should look for new leadership.

The Lethbridge race saw Liberal Chris Spearman finish in second place with an estimated 32.9 per cent of ballots. He told LNN that, while it is disappointing he did not win, he is proud of the work he and his team did throughout the campaign.
