Next week, helicopters will be seen flying throughout several parts of the region.

AltaLink says it will be using a helicopter to perform an aerial patrol of its electrical transmission facilities, taking place between May 12 and 15, 2025.

“This annual patrol provides AltaLink with a visual inspection of its transmission lines and surrounding vegetation, helping to maintain the reliability of the grid through proactive maintenance,” reads an advisory from AltaLink.

Patrols will be conducted in the following areas:

  • Calgary
  • Chestermere
  • Strathmore
  • Brooks
  • Medicine Hat
  • Taber
  • Lethbridge
  • Coaldale
  • Magrath
  • Raymond
  • Stirling
  • Fort Macleod
  • Pincher Creek
  • Coleman

The company says it will try to minimize disruptions to residents, area users, livestock and wildlife.

Anyone with questions about the aerial patrols can call AltaLink at 1-877-267-1453.
