LPS campaign targeting risky driving and other illegal behaviours

An annual traffic enforcement initiative is back for 2025 in Lethbridge.

The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) says it will be ongoing throughout the summer and will focus on things like speeding, excessive vehicle noise, racing, stunting and other illegal activities in areas where the public have reported concerns.

“Citizen complaints of excessive vehicle noise, racing and stunting increase when the weather warms up and police are warning drivers there will be zero tolerance,” reads a media release from LPS.

On the first day of the campaign this past weekend, officers arrested one impaired driver, suspended one and issued 46 violation tickets.

Any repeat offenders who have not fixed their previously identified equipment violations may have their vehicle towed and their license plate and registration seized. They have also have to complete mandatory repairs under Section 66 of the Traffic Safety Act.

Traffic-related complaints can be reported to LPS at 403-328-4444.
