A man from Taber remains behind bars after allegedly being caught with several illegal items.

At approximately 10:00 p.m. on Monday, May 5, the Taber Police Service (TPS) says it conducted a traffic stop on a suspended driver.

Officers claim to have spotted open alcohol containers in the vehicle.

They then reportedly uncovered a sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun concealed under the driver’s seat, and that the serial number on the gun had been defaced.

“Police also seized ammunition, cocaine, throwing knives, alcohol, drug paraphernalia and illegal cigarettes,” says the TPS.

The man’s vehicle was seized for 30 days under the Alberta Suspended Driver Program.

Shane Brett Miller, 44, of Taber, faces nine charges, including possessing a prohibited firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, possessing a firearm without a license, possessing a firearm with a defaced serial number, possessing a weapon dangerous to the public, possessing a controlled substance (cocaine), driving while unauthorized, transporting liquor within easy reach, and possessing non-taxed cigarettes.

Following a bail hearing, Miller was remanded into custody.
