The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) says it has made a substantial drug seizure.

Just before midnight on Sunday, May 11, officers were conducting proactive patrols on the 100 block of Mayor Magrath Drive North when they noticed an unsecured wash bay door with a man lying underneath it, sleeping.

When the man woke up, police allege that he provided a false name, resisted arrest and tried to flee on foot. He was apprehended a short distance away.

LPS says it confiscated more than 400 grams of fentanyl, or approximately 4,000 individual doses, as well as nearly 600 grams of cannabis, 41 grams of cannabis seeds, a small quantity of cash and a taser.

The fentanyl is said to have a street value of around $80,000.

Jade Levi Trotter, 39, of Lethbridge, is charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cannabis for the purpose of unlawful distribution, intention to possess, produce, sell or distribute illicit cannabis, break and enter, obstructing a peace officer resisting a peace officer, assaulting a peace office, possession of a prohibited weapon and trafficking in property or proceeds of crime.

Following a bail hearing, Trotter was remanded into custody and is set to appear in court on May 13, 2025.
