Facility dog joins Chinook Sexual Assault Centre
Clients at a local support agency can now enjoy the warm companionship of a dog.
Link II is the first Accredited Facility Dog to report for duty at the Chinook Sexual Assault Centre (CSAC).
Baylee Schmidt, supervisor at the Child and Youth Advocacy Centre, will be Link II’s handler. She says the canine will help children, youth and families deal with the traumatic effects of abuse with emotional support and a sense of security.
“A facility dog is just one more way we can help kids who are really struggling to connect with the supports that they need,” says Schmidt.
