Three charged in assault, robbery, unlawful confinement in Lethbridge

The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) put three people behind bars following an allegedly violent incident.

At approximately 2:45 p.m. on Sunday, May 18, 2025, police responded to a home on the 1000 block of 13 Street South. Three men and one woman were arrested.

According to LPS, the suspects broke into the home of a 21-year-old man the previous day, reportedly threatening, assaulting, robbing, and confining the victim. The victim was allegedly told not to contact the police.

“The incident was targeted between known parties and was motivated by a dispute over property,” reads a media release from LPS.

Mackaden Bodnar, 18, of Lethbridge, is charged with extortion, robbery, unlawful confinement, break and enter, assault with weapon, assault, and uttering threats to cause death/bodily harm. Following a Judicial Interim Release hearing, Bodnar was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on May 21.

Jeffery Osmond, 42, of Lethbridge, is charged with extortion, robbery, unlawful confinement, break and enter, assault with weapon, assault, uttering threats to cause death/bodily harm, and mischief. Following a Judicial Interim Release hearing, Osmond was released from custody and is scheduled to attend court on June 18.

Another 17-year-old male, of Lethbridge, who cannot be identified under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with two counts of assault with extortion, robbery, unlawful confinement, break and enter, assault with weapon, assault, uttering threats to cause death/bodily harm, and mischief. Following a Judicial Interim Release hearing, he was also released from custody and is scheduled to attend court on May 28.

The fourth female subject was released without charges after LPS determined that she was present, but not directly involved in the incident.
