A peace officer in Brooks says they marked a vehicle travelling significantly faster than the speed limit on Thursday, May 22.

The officer alleges they observed a car travelling eastbound on Cassils Road at a speed of 116 kilometres per hour. A City of Brooks official told LNN that the posted speed limit on that street is 50 km/hr

A traffic stop was initiated, and the driver was arrested and charged with exceeding the posted speed limit by more than 51 km/hr

The driver received a mandatory court summons for July 18.
