The Western Canadian Baseball League’s (WCBL) regular season is underway, and the Lethbridge Bulls are gearing up for their first game at home.

On Thursday, June 5, 2025, the Bulls will play host to Edmonton’s Energy City Cactus Rats.

The Cactus Rats, formerly known as the Edmonton Prospects, were the lowest-ranked team in the league last year with a 12-44 record. The Bulls were third in the West Division of the WCBL in 2024.

The Bulls had a disappointing start to the season, losing all three of their first games on the road this past weekend.

Pitching Coach Josh Bergman, however, says it is not a death sentence for the team.

He explains that the Bulls stumbled at the beginning of last year as well, but they were able to come back and have a great season.

“Early on, I think it was a lot of nerves. Guys were kind of working through some kinks, haven’t been part of the league, didn’t know what to expect,” says Bergman.

He says that there were several bright spots in the team’s first trio of games, adding that the squad will receive several new members in the coming days.

After one final road game in Okotoks on Tuesday, the Bulls return to Spitz Stadium for their home opener on Thursday.

A three-game home stand will see them face Edmonton on June 5 and 6, then the Sylvan Lake Gulls on the seventh.

The first 1,000 fans through the gate on June 5 will get a free 2025 magnetic schedule.
