Police seize $125K worth of cocaine in Medicine Hat

Two people have been arrested in connection with a substantial drug seizure in southern Alberta.

Two homes in Medicine Hat were searched on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, following a planned traffic stop near Redcliff.

The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) claims to have located 1,242 grams of cocaine and $9,180 in cash.

The estimated street value of the of approximately $125,000.

ALERT Medicine Hat Staff Sgt. Ryan Thorburn says, “Our enforcement strategy was successful in stopping this large amount of drugs from circulation. This is a sizeable seizure for Medicine Hat and spared our community considerable harm.”

Konnor Smith-Boutlier, 24, of Medicine Hat, is charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and possession of the proceeds of crime.

Melissa Gertner, 46, of Medicine Hat, is charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime, and possession of a prohibited weapon.
