Two-bedroom rental rates rising faster than one-bedroom units in Lethbridge

Rental rates are rising faster for two-bedroom units in Lethbridge than those of one-bedroom rentals.

That’s according to the latest National Rental Report from Rentals.ca and Urbanation, which shows the average price for a one-bedroom rental unit in Lethbridge in May was $1,304 per month, down 1.3 per cent from April but up 0.9 per cent from May of last year.

Those numbers rank Lethbridge at #52 on the list of 60 Canadian cities included in the monthly report.

Two-bedroom units in Lethbridge, however, rented for an average of $1,612 per month, up 5 per cent from April and 7.8 per cent in May 2024.

Elsewhere in Alberta, the average rent for a one-bedroom unit in Calgary last month was $1,591, with two-bedrooms renting for an average of $1,944 per month, putting Calgary at #46 on the list.

Airdrie was 49th on the list with an average rent of $1,469 per month for a one-bedroom unit in May, and $1,771 for a two-bedroom.

Edmonton came in at #51 on the list, with an average rent of $1,336 per month for a one-bedroom unit last month, and $1,679 for a two-bedroom.

Red Deer was 54th on the list, with an average rent of $1,284 per month for a one-bedroom unit in May, and $1,537 per month for a two-bedroom rental.

Fort McMurray was 57th on the list, with an average rent of $1,245 per month for a one-bedroom unit last month and $1,484 for a two-bedroom unit.

Medicine Hat was 58th on the list with an average rent of $1,212 per month for a one-bedroom unit in May and $1,393 per month for a two-bedroom rental.

Lloydminster was 59th on the list, with average rents for a one-bedroom unit coming in at $1,077 per month in May and $1,275 per month for a two-bedroom rental.
