“Upside Downtown” concert series returns

Jun 9, 2025 | 3:05 PM

The Allied Arts Council of Lethbridge (AAC) has announced its lineup for the 2025 Upside Downtown Concert series.

Once again, Rotary Square at Casa will be hosting a dynamic list of musicians. Organizers say this year’s series will showcase bands and solo performers every Thursday from 5–7 pm, beginning July 3 to August 28.

Officials note, sharing this free event with the Lethbridge community is an incredible opportunity for local talent. Plus, families and friends can connect through a unique trifecta of music, food, and culture. A licensed cash bar will be available to complement the variety of food trucks, providing refreshments to accompany these beautiful summer evenings in downtown Lethbridge.

The Upside Downtown Concert + Art series brings award-winning local talent to the stage, including John Wort Hannam and Richard Inman & the Western Canadian All-Stars. Showcasing the diverse and ever-evolving soundscape of Lethbridge, officials say this year’s lineup features standout local acts such as Bailey Kate, Veronica Raine, Makiisma, The Decadent Phase, and Joshua Beebe and The Forest Orchestra. This year’s series also welcomes acclaimed out-of-town performers, including Edmonton’s soulful Nuela Charles and Prince Edward Island blues powerhouse Joce Reyome.

New for 2025, Upside Downtown will highlight the emerging talent of the community, featuring opening sets by participants from the Chinook High School Battle of the Bands on July 3 and 10, giving emerging youth artists from the community a chance to share the stage and shine.

Locals are encouraged to mark your calendars and prepare your dancing shoes for the series finale Pop UP Get DOWN on Aug. 28. Organizers are closing 8th Street S in front of Casa and hosting a high-energy evening featuring three danceable acts: Adequate, the Shaela Miller Band, and Hippodrome. To add to the music festival vibes, the finale will also include a pop-up art market, celebrating the creativity and vibrancy of the local arts community. More emerging local artists from Shaela Miller’s Youth Songwriting Retreat will also be featured at this special event.

“The AAC is excited to once again bring our collective artistic community together in the heart of downtown Lethbridge to celebrate and showcase the incredible talent that lives and grows in our region, as well as world-class artists from abroad,” says AAC Executive Director, Steven Foord. “Upside Downtown is a highly accessible and much-anticipated event that brings added vibrancy to our city’s core, and we’re thrilled to share this exciting expansion of our programming with the community this year.”
