Police charge male with criminal harassment, watching and besetting
Lethbridge Police have charged a 58-year-old male in connection with an incident where a female was followed by a male in a vehicle for half an hour before she was able to get away.
On June 7, LPS says a 41-year-old female arranged to meet with a male who had agreed to purchase an item she was selling online. The male had asked for the female’s address, but it was not provided and the pair agreed to meet publicly at the intersection of Fern Crescent and South Parkside Drive South.
Following the transaction, the female began to walk away down an alley. Police say she observed the male’s vehicle drive past and as she exited, noticed it was near a residence. As she continued to walk to the end of the block, the male allegedly began driving very slowly. The female proceeded, making various turns along the way, and observed the male appear several more times in various locations along her route until she was able to lose him. According to LPS, she estimates she was followed for approximately 30 minutes.
The incident was reported to police and following further investigation the identity of the male was confirmed and he was subsequently arrested without incident.
