Thankfully, there were no injuries following a house fire in Lethbridge Friday night.

Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services responded to a residential structure fire on the evening of June 13 in the 900 block of 41 Avenue North.

At approximately 7:30 p.m. on June 13, city officials say crews from three stations were dispatched to reports of a house fire. On arrival, firefighters were said to have found light smoke showing from a two-storey, single-family home.

Crews entered the structure to conduct a primary search and gain control of the fire. Officials say heavy smoke was encountered in the basement, where the seat of the fire was located. Firefighters successfully contained the fire to the basement and area of origin.

According to city officials, damage is estimated at $150,000. The cause of the fire, however, remains under investigation.

Residents and property owners are reminded to check their smoke alarms monthly and ensure they are in good working condition.
