City warns of Lethbridge Transit ‘special smartcard’ scam

Jun 17, 2025 | 11:07 AM

The City of Lethbridge is urging residents not to fall for a recurring scam on social media.

They say the Facebook page “Public Transport in Lethbridge” is offering a fraudulent travel pass that should not be purchased.

The “special smartcard” reportedly has unlimited fares on Lethbridge Transit buses for six months for only four dollars.

Users are then directed to click a link and enter their credit card information.

“The page and post have been reported to Facebook and the City has commented on the post to help alert Facebook users to the fraudulent offer. Residents are encouraged to report and block the page,” reads a notice from the City of Lethbridge.

This is the second time in recent months that the same scam has been reported publicly by the municipality.
