A man from Lethbridge needs your support so he can give back to his community even more.

Boyd Harris has been named a finalist for Seasons Retirement Communities’ Remarkable Residents program.

Open to the company’s residents in Alberta, B.C. and Ontario, four distinguished residents are being celebrated for their contributions and successes.

Amanda White, VP of Marketing and Communications for Seasons Retirement Communities, says the annual program allows them to pause and truly reflect on the incredible lives their residents continue to lead.

“The Remarkable Residents® program is a celebration of the people who make our communities so special. Each finalist’s story is a reminder of the resilience and wisdom our residents bring to the communities they call home,” says White.

Harris served as a bishop for six years and was the first missionary from his church to serve in the Fiji Islands.

He later worked in a maximum-security mental health hospital, helping people to face difficult challenges.

Harris says he enjoys posting a “thought of the day” outside his door to brighten the mornings of staff and other residents.

He has volunteered across many causes, including the food banks and Meals on Wheels, to hospital visits, church missions, and civil air search and rescue.

“One of his proudest accomplishments was going skydiving at the age of 91!”

All of the finalists in the Remarkable Residents program will receive $5,000 to give to their charity of choice, while the winner will get $10,000 and one month of free rent.

Harris plans to give his winnings to either the Lethbridge Food Bank or Operation Smile.

The contest closes at 7:00 a.m. on Friday, June 27, 2025.
