Indigenous peoples and cultures will be celebrated this weekend in Lethbridge.

National Indigenous Peoples Day is Saturday, June 21. The City of Lethbridge is hosting an event at Lethbridge & District Exhibition from 12:00 to 7:00 p.m.

It was originally scheduled to take place at Galt Gardens, but it was moved to the indoor venue due to forecast rain.

The day will begin with a free community feast, including Indigenous tacos. A concession will also be available throughout the day, with the proceeds going towards the Interfaith Food Bank.

Other activities include live bands, traditional dancers and drumming, Canadian puppeteer Emery Burningrass, a Teepee Village, and an Indigenous Village and Artisan Market.

For the complete schedule and list of vendors, follow Reconciliation Lethbridge on Facebook.

Other community events will also mark NIPD 2025.

Fort Whoop-Up

Fort Whoop-Up is hosting a day-long, free community celebration. From 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., there will be workshops, special event programming and stories about the Blackfoot people, the Métis, and early settlers. Attendees can also say hello to resident donkeys Jackie and Fernando! (Some events may be impacted by the expected rain and wind.)

Lethbridge Public Library

Head to the main branch for Indigenous tacos, live performances and a round dance. It all happens in Piitoyiss Eagles Nest, in the upper north wing, from 1 – 3 p.m. Both branches also host kids’ crafts and activities all day!
