Lock boxes added to Legacy Park irrigation controls after vandalism

Jun 25, 2025 | 8:40 AM

The City of Lethbridge is asking the public to leave its irrigation systems alone.

It reports recent incidents where individuals have broken into the irrigation control boxes at Legacy Park and activated the water.

This reportedly happened during the heavy rainstorm this past weekend, prompting several residents to ask why the sprinklers were running when it was already raining.

“This not only wastes water but also damages the system and leads to more repairs,” reads a notice from the City of Lethbridge.

Officials have now installed lock boxes to better protect the control systems.

“We want to reassure the community that we take water use seriously and follow proper procedures.”

Anybody who notices suspicious activities around the Legacy Park irrigation control boxes is asked to phone 311.
