Southern Albertans being reminded of new 310-RCMP non-emergency line

If you have a non-urgent matter to report to the RCMP, you do not need to phone 911.

The RCMP detachments in Coaldale, Picture Butte and Taber are reminding residents of the newly implemented province-wide non-emergency line.

They can phone 310-RCMP (310-7267) for non-emergencies, such as: crimes that have already taken place prior to being discovered, matters that do not pose an immediate or potential threat to life or public safety, or those that do not require police attendance but a police response.

Some examples of this include:

  • Minor motor vehicle collisions
  • Break and enters that have already taken place
  • Scams in which money or personal information was not transferred or provided.
  • Lost property
  • Property damage under $5,000
  • Theft under $5,000

Non-emergencies can also be reported online here or by using the Alberta RCMP iOS or Google Play apps.

The emergency line launched in April 2025. At that time, Chris Spence, Director of the Alberta RCMP Operational Communication Centre, said it was designed to streamline the crime reporting process, optimize early stages of investigations and reduce unnecessary calls to 911.
