Another person has stepped forward in the race for Lethbridge City Council.

Kelti Baird is confirmed to be running in the 2025 municipal election, which takes place October 8-20, 2025.

She provided the following answers to a questionnaire by LNN:

Why did you want to run for Lethbridge City Council?

I’m running for City Council with a long track record of community building and service to Lethbridge. I am familiar with how City Council and City Administration operates, and believe I am ready to help move Lethbridge forward on issues that previous councils have been hesitant to make commitments on: actions that will address housing and affordability, accessibility and equity in the community, and ensuring an environmentally and fiscally sustainable future for our city. I’m confident I can work with Council and Administration to lay the groundwork for a truly connected and prosperous future for Lethbridge.

What personal or professional experience do you have that you feel would make you a good city councillor?

In addition to running my local business here in Lethbridge for the last 10 years, I have also been heavily involved with City Hall. In the past, I have sat on the Galt Museum Board of Directors, the Municipal Planning Commission, and most recently the Heart of Our City Committee, in addition to other local organizations and boards. I’m passionate about issues that affect the daily lives of Lethbridge citizens, and my sole focus is on maintaining a great path forward for Lethbridge that uplifts our current citizens while preparing our city for the future.

What would be a few of your top priorities if elected?

Lethbridge is making great strides towards environmental and fiscal sustainability, but we need bolder action to ensure the long-term viability of our city and the ability to respond to various crises. My top priorities are transportation and safety, housing and addressing the root causes of homelessness, and ensuring environmental and fiscal sustainability within the city – something that will be affected by how the city is designed and managed well into the future. City Hall has been doing remarkable consultation work in regards to the Land Use Bylaw, a hefty piece of policy that they are updating and will be voted on by the next council, and I’m very sure I have the knowledge and the voice to ensure that good groundwork is laid for a bright future.

Where can people learn more about you and your platform?

Folks can find me on social media – Facebook, LinkedIn, Bluesky, and soon Instagram. I will also have a website where folks can interact regularly at keltibaird.ca and learn more about where I will be, and when, as well as my various policy positions. I plan to be out and about in the community as much as possible, and welcome opportunities to speak to local community groups and organizations who are interested in what I can bring to City Hall.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Municipal policy has the greatest ability to affect our everyday lives, and the role of Councillor is not a small role or something to be treated lightly. The citizens here deserve Councillors who are committed to going above and beyond for them, who are passionate and capable of representing their interests against powerful entities. City Council is not a retirement gig, it isn’t part-time (even though they say Councillors only work 20hrs/week), it’s a full-time commitment to service of the community. I encourage everyone in Lethbridge to get engaged with the municipal election this October, and to really consider their choices when it comes to a prosperous future.
