Residents of Taber should not be alarmed if they see armed police officers near W.R. Meyers High School.

The Taber Police Service (TPS) says its members, along with “multiple police agencies,” are undergoing a series of training exercises.

It will take place July 8-11, as well as the 14th and 15th. Signs will be posted on 54 Street near the school.

“Some of the scenarios will involve police outside the school with weapons drawn. We want to assure the public that this is training only!” reads a social media post from TPS.

Residents in the area may hear loud noises, including those that sound like gunshots. However, they say there will be no live fire scenarios.
