UPDATE: The boil water advisory for the Hamlet of Granum is no longer in effect.

Original Story:

Residents of a southern Alberta community are being asked to continue boiling their water.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) issued a boil water advisory for the Hamlet of Granum, approximately 25 km north of Fort Macleod, on Sunday night, July 13, 2025.

“Until further notice ALL water used for drinking, brushing teeth, cooking and washing food must be brought to a rolling boil for at least 1 minute before use,” reads the advisory from AHS. “Water used for bathing, showers and laundry is still safe to use, however avoid swallowing any water used for those activities.”

Officials say the advisory resulted from a power outage in the community.

Updates on the boil water advisory will be posted to MDofWillowCreek.com and on the Municipal District of Willow Creek’s social media pages.
