Saturday, July 19 will mark Parks Day in Alberta.
The day is meant to “highlight the benefits of parks and natural spaces across Canada” says a release from the province.
The occasion has been celebrated since 1990.
This year also marks 95 years for the provincial parks system in Alberta.

Parks Day gives us the opportunity to celebrate the incredible outdoor spaces that define our province – from the badlands to rugged backcountry trails, to the peaceful lakeside campgrounds. Parks are for people, and whether you are headed out to camp, fish or hike this weekend, Alberta Parks offers something for everyone to celebrate, recreate and enjoy nature. The government is also doing an online survey on its Plan for Parks.
The province’s website says this draft plan talks about “Alberta’s strategic direction for recreation and conservation of sites managed under the Provincial Parks Act.”
The survey will be open until July 26.
