City of Lethbridge lifts River Valley fire ban

Jul 23, 2025 | 9:48 AM

Campfires are once again allowed in the coulees.

The City of Lethbridge has cancelled its fire ban that had been in effect since June 26, 2025.

The change was made due to the recent cooler temperatures and higher humidity levels, which have reduced the risks of wildfires.

Officials, however, are still asking the public to be careful when utilizing the fire pits in the River Valley.

Users should use clean, dry wood and ensure that the fire is completely extinguished before leaving.

Residents are also being reminded to be extra cautious when disposing of smoking materials, as they can easily ignite dry vegetation.

This comes one day after Lethbridge County downgraded its fire restriction to a fire advisory.
