Another contender has stepped forward to potentially fill one of eight seats on Lethbridge City Council.

Robin James will be on the ballot in the 2025 municipal election, which takes place from October 8-20, 2025.

She provided the following answers to an LNN questionnaire:

Why did you want to run for Lethbridge City Council?

After nearly two decades of working directly with individuals, families, and seniors as Chief Administrative Officer of the Lethbridge Housing Authority, I’ve seen firsthand how our city is being affected by the growing pressures of housing affordability, increasing homelessness, and strained access to healthcare. These aren’t abstract policy issues—they are real, urgent challenges faced by people across our community every day. I believe we can do better, and I’m ready to bring forward solutions that work.

What would be a few of your top priorities if elected?

My campaign is focused on three core priorities:

  • 🏠 Affordable and Attainable Housing for Every Stage of Life
    • Everyone in Lethbridge deserves a safe, stable place to call home. That includes housing for working families, young professionals trying to get into the market, and seniors who want to age in place with dignity and independence. I will push for diverse, inclusive housing options, support attainable development, and work to ensure we are building a city that supports people at every stage of life.
  • 🚪 Reducing and Preventing Homelessness
    • We must take meaningful steps to make homelessness in Lethbridge rare, brief, and non-recurring. I’ve worked on the front lines of this issue and know what it takes to build effective housing pathways that provide stability and hope. City Council has a key role to play in supporting transitional housing, improving coordination between services, and advocating for funding that meets the scale of the challenge.
  • 🩺 Improving Access to Healthcare Through Provincial Advocacy and Community Wellness
    • Access to healthcare in Lethbridge continues to be a serious concern. As a candidate for City Council, I will advocate for stronger partnerships with the provincial government to improve access to doctors, mental health supports, and specialist care.
    • We need to ensure that healthcare planning is part of our broader community wellness strategy. By working with Acute Care, Primary Care, Assisted Living, Recovery Alberta and local partners, we can help ensure Lethbridge residents get the care they need—when and where they need it.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

This election is about choosing leaders who can bring practical, experienced leadership to the Council table. I’ve spent my career working within government systems to deliver results, and I know how to navigate the complexities to get things done. I’m not running on promises—I’m running on a proven record of service, partnership, and accountability.

I look forward to meeting with residents throughout the campaign to hear your ideas, concerns, and hopes for the future of our city. Together, we can build a stronger, healthier, more inclusive Lethbridge.
