New Board chair announced for Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis

Jul 24, 2025 | 2:33 PM

The agency that regulates alcoholic beverages, recreational cannabis, and gaming-related activities in Alberta will have a new Chair next month.

Larry Spagnolo will begin serving as Board Chair of Alberta Gaming Liquor and Cannabis, taking over for outgoing chair Len Rhodes, effective August 15.

Spagnolo currently serves as Vice Chair for Athabasca University’s Board of Governors and has held board roles with NAIT and Polytechnics Canada.

He’s currently employed as a VP with tech company Emerson and is a graduate of NAIT and MacEwan University.

AGLC says Spagnolo is an advocate for education and community and has been awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal for community contributions.

The province says Spagnolo’s appointment marks a new chapter in AGLC’s ongoing efforts to support communities, encourage responsible choices and position Alberta as the best place to do business.
