LPS charges man in stalking incident

The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) states that there may be additional victims, and anyone who has been affected by this man is asked to come forward.

On the evening of June 25, 2025, police say a 47-year-old woman was walking along the 1000 block of 3 Avenue North when an unknown man in a truck drove past her.

The truck circled around and returned to her location. LPS says the man got out of the vehicle and tried to “solicit” her.

The woman continued to walk and refused to enter the man’s vehicle, which reportedly led to him becoming angry. It is alleged that he got back into his truck and followed her.

“Fearing for her safety, she attended a nearby business to seek help,” says LPS.

Police claim that the man parked at the business while she was inside, but left prior to the arrival of officers.

LPS later found the man, who reportedly had outstanding warrants, and he was arrested without incident.

James Alfred Finch, 51, of Wetaskwin, is charged with criminal harassment, as well as watching and besetting.

He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on August 18.

It is believed by LPS that this was not an isolated incident and that there may be more victims. As part of the investigation, they are releasing a photo of Finch and the vehicle, which is described as a 1999 silver Ford F-150 with a dark topper.

Anyone who has been victimized, or who has information that could assist in the investigation, is asked to call LPS at 403-328-4444 and reference file 25011411.
