Two dead, one in critical condition following pedestrian collision

UPDATE (Tuesday, July 29): Murder charges laid following fatal hit-and-run in Siksika Nation

The RCMP is investigating a fatal hit-and-run collision on the Siksika Nation in southern Alberta.

At approximately 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025, Gleichen RCMP responded to a collision at the 54 Map 3 Subdivision in the First Nation.

Two people were found deceased, while a third person was in critical condition. Two others were uninjured.

RCMP says its investigation determined that a group of five people were walking when they were hit by a vehicle, and the vehicle fled the scene.

The deceased have been identified as a 27-year-old man and a 45-year-old man, both residents of the Siksika Nation.

The injured person is a 45-year-old woman from the Siksika Nation, who remains in critical condition.

The Gleichen RCMP is asking for anyone who has video footage from the area between 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. to contact them at 403-734-3923.
