Murder charges laid following fatal hit-and-run in Siksika Nation

The RCMP has laid a trio of charges against a southern Alberta man who is accused of killing two people and critically injuring another.

LNN previously reported that, on Saturday, July 26, 2025, five people were walking along the 54 Map 3 Subdivision in the Siksika First Nation when they were struck by a vehicle.

Two people died, who have now been identified as Trayton Runningbird, 27, and Clifton Saddleback, 45. Both are from the Siksika Nation.

A third victim, a 45-year-old Siksika woman, remains in hospital in critical condition.

The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has charged Adolphus Weaselchild, 27, with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.

Weaselchild remains in custody and is set to appear in court in Drumheller.
