A reported incident of road rage in Taber has led to a southern Alberta man facing criminal charges.

The Taber Police Service (TPS) says that, around 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, they received complaints from drivers who felt that they were being followed by a vehicle for several blocks.

When the complainants stopped their vehicle, the vehicle that was behind them reportedly stopped too.

“One of the complainants got into a verbal altercation with the other driver male. As the complainant was walking away, the other driver exited his vehicle, brandishing what appeared to be a long firearm and uttered threats,” says TPS.

When the complainants left the area, the other driver allegedly followed them again, resulting in another verbal altercation.

TPS says, when its officers arrived on scene, the other driver fled at a “high rate of speed.”

Police were able to stop the vehicle and arrest the driver without incident.

Members claim to have found an unloaded shotgun inside the vehicle.

Wilhelm Thiessen Wolf, 18, of Wrentham, is charged with two counts of uttering threats and one count each of possessing a weapon dangerous to the public, unauthorized possession of a weapon, use of a firearm in the commission of an offence, and flight from a police officer.

Theissen Wolf was released from custody and is set to appear in court on July 29, 2025.
