The City Wide Water Drive continues, but organizers say it has been a success to this point.

Organizations including Community Links, Downtown Lethbridge Business Revitalization Zone, Streets Alive, Sage Clan Patrol, Diversion Outreach Team, Canadian Mental Health Association, MyCityCare, Recovery Alberta, Lethbridge Food Bank and the Interfaith Food Bank have teamed up for the initiative.

It aims to distribute bottled water to people who are unable to take shelter from the heat this summer.

Danielle McIntyre, Executive Director of the Interfaith Food Bank, said back in May that their goal was to distribute over 10,000 litres of water during the campaign, which runs from June 1 to August 31, 2025.

As of July 31, volunteers have handed out nearly 36,000 bottles of water.

The United Way has contributed $7,000 to support water purchases, and the City of Lethbridge will provide up to $3,000 in matching funding for financial gifts and donations of bottled water.

Residents are asked to continue donating bottled water, and items can be dropped off at either of the city’s main food banks.
