Alberta Open Farm Days set for Saturday and Sunday

Alberta Open Farm Days is set for Saturday and Sunday, August 16 and 17, 2025.

The weekend gives people a chance to visit farms and ranches, see food production first-hand, and try and buy locally produced products.

Several operations in southern Alberta are taking part.

  • Theoretically Brewing – Lethbridge
  • Farming Smarter Association – east of Lethbridge
    • Learn about the roots of agriculture, take in demonstrations, and hear stories from members of agriculture. Also includes bouncy castles, Gentle Acres petting zoo, crop tours, and a BBQ fundraiser for the Lethbridge East Rotary Club.
  • Coaldale and District Agricultural Society Bus Tour
    • Full-day guided bus tour, showcasing four agricultural operations in the Coaldale area – potato farm and storage facility, family-owned and operated sugar beet farm, modern beef feedlot, organic greenhouse/farm.
  • The Lilac Row – south of Coaldale
    • Complimentary garden tour, discuss cut flower production and the challenges of growing flowers in southern Alberta. Guests can purchase fresh bouquets.
  • CP Farms – southwest of Barnwell
    • DIY french fry station, potato information booth, potato storage tour, “farmer spray park” with irrigation hoses, large equipment, Alberta Sugar Beet Growers information booth, pedal cart racing, farm-related games and activities, and displays for wheat, barley, seed canola, and corn.
  • The Venue of New Hope – west of Diamond City
    • Free starter pack of red wiggles and guidance on creating your own vermicomposting gardens, patio and coffee area.
  • Little Gem Winery – north of Monarch
    • Free tasting and tour at 12:00 p.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3:00 p.m., complimentary Haskap ice cream, food truck on-site.
  • Windy Rafter Barn Dance – east of Fort Macleod
    • Tours of 100+ year-old farming facilities, rope making, horseshoes, fake cow milking, forge demo, farm animals, pony rides, elastic rifle target shooting, stock calf roping, BBQ, gift shop.
  • Kootenai Brown Pioneer Village – Pincher Creek
    • Tour 30+ historical buildings, museum of local history, cafe.
  • U Lazy U Ranch – Foothills (3km south of Chain Lakes Provincial Park)
    • Pioneer products, Alberta’s finest meats, horses, games for kids.
  • Nanton Grain Elevators
    • Tours of former grain elevators, engine runs (weather permitting).
  • T.R.A.D. Worm Industries – west of Medicine Hat
    • Hands-on look at the world of worms and soil health, live demonstrations, educational displays, guided tours.
  • Bikes & Baskets at the Brooks Farmers Market
    • Ride your bike to the Brooks Farmers’ Market or rent an e-bike at the event, purchase local goods, self-guided ride to Kinbrook Island Provincial Park.
  • Brooks and District Museum
    • Parade of antique tractors, a look into the farming life of early settlers in the area, water activities, make-and-takes.
  • Piston Broke Brewing And Pizzeria – Brooks
    • Brewhouse tour, drinks and food, merchandise.
  • Brooks Aqueduct – southeast of Brooks
    • Explore the historic site, guided tours, learn about early irrigation innovations, games, raffle prizes, locally-made snacks.
