New one-way streets in south Lethbridge start Wednesday

The City of Lethbridge is making a change to traffic flow in a small section of the south side.

Effective Wednesday, August 27, 2025, it will see 11 and 12 Street South between 9 and 10 Avenue South converted into one-way streets.

That section of 11 Street will only move south, while the portion of 12 Street, which borders the main entrance to Fleetwood Bawden School, will only move north.

The City says the alteration will improve safety for all who are travelling in the area, improve the flow of traffic, make on-street parking easier, and improve pick-up and drop-off for students at the school.

It adds that it has received supportive feedback from residents and stakeholders in the area.

“As the start of another school year brings more traffic to the area, all road users are advised to be aware of the changes and plan their driving routes accordingly,” reads a notice from the City of Lethbridge.

Signage is in place along the affected streets, and it will remain there for approximately two weeks.
