Temporary speed reductions on westbound Whoop-Up Drive
The City of Lethbridge has announced a new change to traffic flow on Whoop-Up Drive as bridge maintenance work continues.
As of 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 26, crews have been pouring high-performance concrete on the bridge’s expansion joints.
In an effort to minimize vibration and ensure the integrity of the pour, a temporary speed reduction will be in place for westbound drivers:
- Westbound traffic will be reduced to 30 km/h while driving over the bridge.
- Signage will alert motorists ahead of the work zone, with two reminder signs within the zone.
- The reduced speed limit is expected to be in place until Friday, August 29, at 12 p.m.
- Drivers are asked to slow down, follow posted signage and exercise caution while crossing the bridge.
