League-leading AFC Toronto thumps Vancouver Rise 7-0 in NSL action
TORONTO — Esther Okoronkwo and Kaylee Hunter each scored twice and AFC Toronto piled up six second-half goals in a 7-0 thumping of the Vancouver Rise on Saturday in Northern Super League soccer action.
Kaela Hansen, Sarah Stratigakis and Jade Kovacevic also scored for Toronto (13-6-2), which opened up a nine-point lead over Vancouver and Montreal for top spot in the six-team league standings..
Sierra Cota-Yarde picked up the clean sheet as Toronto dominated Vancouver 15-1 in shots on target.
The Rise had won their last four games and were unbeaten in their last eight heading into Saturday’s match.
