Teens arrested following alleged firearms threat at Lethbridge cinema

The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) has laid charges against two people following an incident in the city.

At approximately 9:15 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025, officers were called to the Galaxy Cinemas at Park Place Mall on reports of weapons-related threats.

Police were told that an unknown girl and boy had allegedly chased a group of teenage girls with a gun in the movie theatre’s lobby.

The theatre was placed in lockdown, and the suspects were located.

LPS reports that the suspects also had a can of bear spray and a satchel containing a BB gun.

A 16-year-old boy, who cannot be identified under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with disguised with intent, pointing a firearm, uttering threats to cause death and bodily harm, assault with a weapon, two counts of carrying a concealed weapon, and two counts of possession of an offensive weapon dangerous to the public.

He was remanded into custody and is awaiting a Judicial Interim Release hearing.

A 15-year-old girl, who cannot be identified under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with being party to assault with a weapon and two counts of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.

She was released on an undertaking with numerous conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on October 22, 2025.
