Canes announce roster ahead of Friday’s regular season home opener

The Lethbridge Hurricanes have finalized their roster for the 2025-26 regular season.

The 23-man roster includes 14 forwards, seven defencemen, and two goaltenders.

They will be led by the team’s new leadership group, consisting of captain Logan Wormald and alternate captains Shane Smith, Matteo Fabrizi and Luke Cozens.

The Hurricanes roster comprises three overage players (2005-born), four 19-year-olds (2006-born), five 18-year-olds (2007-born), seven 17-year-olds (2008-born) and four 16-year-olds (2009-born).

G.M. Peter Anholt says he is happy with what their group looks like heading into the season.

“I think we have a good mix of older guys that came and made our team and the 2008 and 2009 group that we are really excited about. It’s important for us to stress patience this season, but our goals still stay the same,” says Anholt. “We expect our team and our players to get better as the season goes and making the playoffs is still our goal.”

The Lethbridge Hurricanes will open the regular season on Friday, Sept. 19, welcoming the Calgary Hitmen to the VisitLethbridge.com Arena.
