LPS & Sheriffs arrest 11 wanted offenders

A pair of law enforcement agencies worked together to put nearly one dozen wanted people behind bars.

The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) and Alberta Sheriffs Fugitive Apprehension Sheriff Support Team (FASST) ran a two-week joint initiative targeting wanted offenders between Sept. 2-11, 2025.

They went after people who were wanted on warrants for serious offences, including assault with a weapon, sexual interference, incest, unlawful confinement, distribution of sexually explicit materials, and failing to provide the necessaries of life.

At the conclusion of the project, 11 offenders had been arrested.

LPS Chief Shahin Mehdizadeh says he was pleased with the results.

“Collaborating with FASST to bring these violent offenders into custody reflects our shared commitment to making communities safer,” says Mehdizadeh. “Ensuring offenders are held accountable remains a priority for our Service, and we will continue to pursue those who attempt to evade the consequences of their actions.”

Mike Ellis, Alberta’s Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Services, says this is yet another example of the valuable support the Alberta Sheriffs play in communities across the province.

He says the Alberta Government will not tolerate crime.
