Tickets issued after vehicle drives into Lethbridge store

The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) has responded after a store on the north side was damaged in a collision.

Just after 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24, LPS responded to a report that an SUV had driven into Tambayan Ni Kabayan, a Filipino grocery store on the 500 block of 13 Street North.

“Further investigation determined a 25-year-old female driver had mistaken the gas pedal for the brake,” reads a media release from LPS.

It continues, “No one was injured in the crash, but the building and vehicle sustained extensive damage.”

LPS says the driver did not have valid insurance and had a GDL learner’s license.

The driver was issued violation tickets for driving without insurance and operating a motor vehicle with a learner’s license without proper supervision.

She is scheduled to appear in court on December 9, 2025.

The GDL violation carried a penalty of $324.
