A man has been charged after several schools in south Lethbridge were forced into lockdown protocols last week.

At approximately 11:15 a.m. on Friday, October 3, the Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) says it received a report of a suspicious person at Catholic Central High School on the 400 block of 18 Street North.

The suspect was allegedly seen brandishing a knife in the school’s cafeteria.

“The male confronted two students, causing them to fear for their safety, before leaving the building and walking away on foot,” reads a media release from LPS.

As a precaution, Ecole St. Mary’s Elementary, Lethbridge Collegiate Institute, Catholic Central High and St. Francis Junior High were locked down.

Officers later arrested the man on the 2400 block of Parkside Drive South without incident.

Tage Crow Chief, 18, of Stand Off, is charged with possession of an offensive weapon dangerous to the public, mischief, two counts of assault with a weapon and four counts of failing to comply with a release order.

Following a bail hearing, Crow Chief was remanded in custody to appear in court today.
