One of three recent investigations into alleged animal cruelty has resulted in another two people facing criminal charges.

On Sept. 4, 2025, Community Animal Services was called to a home on the 600 block of 9 Street South.

It had received reports that multiple animals were found to be in distress during a property inspection.

Members seized four puppies, three adult dogs, four cats, a lizard, a fish and a mouse.

“The animals were not being properly cared for and conditions inside the residence made it unfit for habitation, resulting in a closure order that required the male and female tenants to vacate the property,” reads a news release from LPS.

Officers had continued to investigate since the initial incident, and two people were charged on Sunday, Oct. 12.

Aaron Burke, 22, and Savannah Rayne McClung, 23, both of Coaldale, are charged with causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.

Both were released with conditions not to possess or care for any domestic animals, and are scheduled to appear in court on November 18.

Community Animal Services had also responded to two other cases of alleged animal cruelty on the same week in early September. Learn more in the article linked below:
