Parking improvements coming to Popson Park

The City of Lethbridge says renovations to Popson Park’s parking lot will soon get underway.

Officials say parking has long been an issue in that part of the River Valley, and that this is one of the main things they hope to address.

“The park has two gravel lots. On high-traffic days, they fill up fast – leading to visitor frustration, roadside parking where it shouldn’t happen and safety risks for both pedestrians and drivers,” reads a news release from the City of Lethbridge.

The project will add more parking spaces, better signage to guide traffic and improve flow, and new accessible spots.

Popson Park will be closed to the public as of Oct. 20 while crews work on the improvements. The current plan is to reopen it on Nov. 17, 2025.
