The Western Canada Lottery Corporation says a man in southern Alberta is now a millionaire.

Laredo Joblonkay won the $1 million prize on a $100 LUXE MULTIPLIER Scratch & Win Ticket.

He says he has been buying lottery tickets and scratch tickets since 1972.

The winning ticket was purchased at Johnson Drugs in Taber, and he went into a store to check a “big stack” of tickets that he had been saving up.

“I got to the very last ticket and saw a number with six zeroes and thought the scanner must be broken,” he laughed. “I was with my wife and son, and I checked the ticket again to show them,” says Joblonkay.

He says his family was in complete shock and was speechless.

Joblonkay says he has some ideas for how he will use his winnings.

“We are thinking of taking a family cruise to Hawaii—maybe a trip to see the Dallas Cowboys play—and make some investments as well,” he said. “We’re still deciding what we’ll do!”
