The Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation has received a generous donation from a pair of longtime community supporters.

Dennis and Sylvia Chinner have gifted CRHF a $130,000 gift of securities to support the Brining Hearts Home Campaign.

Both Chinner’s have personal connections to the cause as each of their fathers faced cardiac health challenges, and Sylvia is a former patient of Dr. Sayeh Zielke, chair of the southern Alberta Cardiac Sciences Advisory Cabinet Bringing Hearts Home campaign.

“Cardiac care has personally touched our families,” says Sylvia Chinner, in a media release. “We wanted to give back in a way that honours our fathers and supports care that means so much to us. This investment originated as $25,000, eight years ago with the intent to one day donate it to a cause that could truly make a difference in our community.”

“Donating securities is a simple, effective way to help others,” continued Sylvia. “Especially at year-end when there are additional tax benefits. We hope sharing our experience encourages others to explore how they can contribute.”

The campaign will help establish a Cardiac Centre of Excellence at Chinook Regional Hospital, ensuring faster diagnose, expanded treatment options and improved outcomes.

“Every gift to the Bringing Hearts Home campaign is a promise, a promise that care, compassion, and expertise will be here when they are needed most,” says Crystal Elliott, Chief Executive Officer of the Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation. “Your generosity strengthens cardiac services, attracts leading specialists, and helps establish a regional Centre of Excellence so patients can receive advanced, life-saving care close to home. Together, we’re building a legacy of hope for families across southern Alberta.”

The campaign needs to raise $30 million and the Chinner’s gift brings CRHF to $12.4 million.
