Lethbridge-based Triple M drives Alberta’s modular housing push

Nov 5, 2025 | 3:20 PM

ATCO is expanding its modular housing operations with the goal of meeting the demand for cost-competitive, multi-family housing across Alberta and Canada.

The company says it is working with municipalities and developers to address bylaw and red-tape challenges that have reportedly slowed the construction of multi-unit housing.

Its first multi-family project, Viva Homes, is under development in Calgary’s Arbour Lake community on a former ATCO Gas site.

The project is set to include 32 one and three-bedroom townhomes, expected to be ready in early 2026.

The company says planning is underway for additional developments in Calgary and Edmonton, with interest from several Prairie municipalities.

In Lethbridge, Triple M Housing, an ATCO Structures division operating since 1981, builds modular homes and provides a 20-year warranty.

The company says it is expanding production and recruiting more workers to meet demand.

Triple M currently builds mostly single-family homes, with growing interest from rural and Indigenous communities.

The company is also in discussions with Lethbridge-area developers on potential multi-unit and commercial projects.

ATCO says it has seen strong interest from municipalities and developers in modular housing options that align with the federal Build Canada Homes initiative.
