Lethbridge council organizational update

The newly sworn-in Lethbridge city council had their 2025 organizational meeting Monday.

During the meeting, council approved:

The Deputy Mayor and Acting Mayor schedule (2025-2029)

The 2026 Council and Standing Policy Committee calendar which helps with planning and scheduling future meetings and ensures an efficient and transparent notification process for the public.

The 2026 calendar which will be shared on the city’s website, with council and SPC agendas to be made publicly available one week in advance.

The Deputy Mayor and Acting Mayor schedule (2025-2029)

The Acting Mayor and Deputy act as the mayor’s representative when the mayor is unavailable or to support mayoral functions on the mayor’s behalf.

For the first rotation, Councilor Belinda Crowson will serve as current Acting Mayor for the first rotation, while Councilor Jenn Schmidt-Rempel is the current Deputy mayor.

Administration Committee appointments:

Two members of administration were appointed to committees to provide subject matter expertise and promote collaboration and collective decision-making.

Recreation Services Manager Travis Grindle has been assigned to the Combative Sports Commission, while Environment Manager Mark Svenson joins the Oldman Watershed Council.
