Nov 6, 2025 | 1:54 PM

The Alberta Wilderness Association (AWA) is marking 60 years of advocating for conservation with an awards and lecture evening happening in Calgary later this month — with a southern Alberta connection.

The 25th Annual Martha Kostuch Wilderness and Wildlife Lecture and Awards Evening is set to take place Friday, Nov. 14, at the Crescent Heights Community Association.

Doors open at 6 p.m., with the formal program beginning at 7 p.m.

Taber, Alberta-born Corb Lund is set to receive the 2025 Wilderness Defender Award and deliver the keynote address.

Lund has released 12 albums, three of which are certified gold, and tours regularly in Canada.

The award aims to honour individuals who have shown dedication to protecting Alberta’s environment.

The evening will also feature the presentation of the “What’s Your 60?” finisher medallions and the Great Gray Owl Award, recognizing volunteerism and commitment to AWA’s work.
