Interfaith Food Bank recognized as Top 10 Impact Food Bank by Charity Intelligence 2025

Nov 7, 2025 | 8:00 AM

The Interfaith Food Bank Society of Lethbridge is being recognized for its impact on the community and people in need.

The Food Bank has been included in Charity Intelligence Canada’s Top 10 Impact Food Bank list for the fifth consecutive year.

The list measures the impact charities make to see how each dollar donated is used to create positive change.

“It is an absolute honor to have our work recognized this way,” said Danielle McIntyre, Executive Director with Interfaith Food Bank, in a press release. “It speaks to actual benefit we provide to the families we serve and acknowledges the return on investment to donors looking to ensure their donations are truly making a difference. In a year where most donors are making difficult decisions about who and/or how much they can support, we hope this news will push us to the top of the list.”

McIntyre adds that the demand for food banks has doubled since 2019, and it is important that Interfaith is seen as a trustworthy charity so donors will continue to offer their support.

Interfaith is also in need of more volunteers.

The food bank has multiple Christmas events lined up for November and December, including concerts, hockey games, markets and local and national campaigns.

Outside of Christmas, volunteers are needed in four major departments:

* Client Services – volunteers help with reception of clients, processing client orders, lifting and carrying food hampers, data entry and connecting clients with community resources

* Reception – volunteers support the administrative team by accepting donations, making copies, stuffing envelopes, answering phones, data entry and assisting with fundraising initiatives.

* The Second Door Thrift Store – volunteers sort, check and price secondhand items for sale in the onsite thrift store; and work in the store, supporting customers with purchases and ensuring the store is clean, tidy and stocked regularly.

* Special Events – volunteers give time preparing for or attending community events to collect food and funds and raise awareness for Interfaith Food Bank.

Casual and short-term opportunities include 2/4-hour shifts at locations across Lethbridge.
